On the final day of the season Manchester City and Manchester United were level on points with Manchester City top on goal difference. Manchester United's match ended with a win. At the same time Manchester City were losing 2 - 1 at home. In the remaining few minutes of injury time Manchester City scored two goals to win the League.

Manchester City are the sixth club to win the League on goal difference. Manchester United gained 89 points, the hightest number for a second placed club.

Cardiff City reach their first League Cup final becoming the first club from Wales to do so.

Liverpool win the League Cup for a record eighth time and reach the FA Cup final, becoming the first club to lose the FA Cup after winning the League Cup.

Chelsea win the FA Cup and become the first London club to win the European Cup.
