History

Manchester United win a record-equalling 18th League Championship. They also win three successive championships for the second occasion. During the season they set a record of 14 successive league matches without conceading a goal. This run included a record 9 consecutive wins without a goal conceaded.

Between February 2004 and October 2008 Chelsea set a new record of 86 home matches in the league without defeat.

Hull City appear in the top division for the first time.
