History

The League Cup final is the first between two London clubs.

The FA Cup final is between the clubs finishing in the top two of the League for only the third time, the previous occasions being in 1913 and 1986. Manchester United play in a record 18th FA Cup final. The FA Cup moves back to Wembley after seven years: Chelsea become the first winners at the new stadium as they were the last winners at the old stadium. Chelsea become only the third club to win both domestic cups in the same season.

This is the last of an eight year run where the FA Cup final features at least one team from London.

Liverpool reach a record 11th European final and a record 7th final in the European Cup.

Chelsea equal the record of 63 home matches in the league without defeat.

Relegation is decided by goal difference.

Reading make their top division debut.

History (Europe)

The UEFA Cup is between two clubs from Spain. Seville become the first club since 1963 to retain the UEFA Cup.
