History

West Ham United and Fulham played in only the second all-London FA Cup final.

Fulham were the 15th club from the second level to reach the final. They set a record by playing 12 matches to reach the final.

Derby County won the League Championship in a season that saw the leadership change a record 21 times during the season.

Carlisle United made their only appearance in the Top Division.

By reaching the European Cup final, Leeds United became the first English club to play in all three European finals. This was also a record fifth European final appearance.
