History

Aston Villa became the second club to complete the League and FA Cup double. The third would not occur until 1961, 64 years later. They also became the first club to win a trophy for four consecutive seasons.

On the day they won the FA Cup final, there were league matches being played. Aston Villa were top but could be caught by Derby County who lost 0 - 1 at Bury giving the League to Aston Villa who still had three matches to play. Aston Villa thus became the only club to complete both parts of the double on the same day.
