A USA spy plane is shot down off the coast of China by Chinese fighter pilots and is forced to land in China. The
Chinese government detain the crew and examine the plane. Western media report the story in terms of the American crew being kept from their families
and of the possibility of American secrets that may be gained from the plane. No Western report asks what the USA were doing flying so close to a
foreign country and little mention is made of a Chinese pilot killed in the operation.
In 1999 USA planes had bombed the Chinese Embassy in Belgrade during bombing of Yugoslavia. The
reason given was error due to an out of date map.
